The Wedding of the Century

As many of you have probably heard Kim Kardashian and famous music artist Kanye West are getting married.  Also, you may have heard about the enormous amounts of money they plan to spend at their wedding; 3 million dollars to be exact.  What exactly are they having at their wedding that would cost up to 3 million dollars, and is this really necessary?  These are questions you are probably asking yourself, as I did the same.  For Kim, this is not her first multimillion dollar wedding.  Her last wedding cost over a million dollars as well, however that marriage didn’t last very long, less than two months.  So I guess if they think its necessary to spend 3 million dollars on a wedding that may not last that long, go ahead.

Saturday will be the day the two get married, and there is a lot in store.  Everything from pink swimming pools to perfumed rooms to offset the smell of sewage that may be present, they couple has really thought of everything.  There will even be Special Forces on standby just in case anything happens out of the ordinary.  The wedding will be held in Paris on a large estate, where there will be several guests.  There have been several people wondering where the wedding will take place, some were saying that it would take place on the famous Palis of Versailles.  However there are many saying now that it will take place Belvedere Fort just outside Paris, France.  Just to have it at this location it will cost them over 400,000 dollars.

Kanye insisted that the water in all of the pools dyed pink because its Kim’s Favorite color, and ofcorse, this will happen.  They jus t recently heard of a sewage plant that is located just outside the large estate in which they will be married at, so something had to be done about this.  They plan to have scented ventilation to block out the possible sent of sewage.

There will be several surprises at the wedding and it might just be the next biggest wedding of the 21^st century.

McDaniel Supporter Arrested for Exploitation of a Vulnerable Adult

Clayton Thomas Kelly, a 28 year old, was arrested late this week by police and was charged for the exploitation of a vulnerable adult, police said in a statement. Kelly is being held in the Madison County Detention Center for his felony and is on $100,000 bond, which is surly not to be posted by anyone.  Rose Cochran is 72 years old and has lived at St. Catherine’s Village for several years.  Rose has dementia which is categorized as a disorder of the mental processes caused by brain disease or injury and is a memory disorder with personality changes and impaired reasoning, according to Webster’s.

The police couldn’t identify Rose Cochran as the person who was photographed at first. An attorney named Don Clark said an unauthorized photo of Rose Cochran was taken in her nursing home room without her permission and it was posted online in a video to attack a Cochran. A source stated to the Cochran campaign that the video was characterized as a political attack on Cochran.

Cochran is a democrat and has a challenger who is republican named Chris McDaniel.  The two will be voted for on June 3.  Republican challenger McDaniel said his campaign has no connection to Kelly, who was arrested for taking the photo without permission.

McDaniel made a statement that he contacted Cochran and explained his empathy for him and his grandma, stating that he was extremely sorry.  McDaniel was very apologetic and stated he had no connection or knowledge of the event occurring.

Kelly, who was arrested, has several posts on social media, such as twitter and his blog, attacking Cochran and the Democratic Party.  He has stated several offensive comments about Cochran and has talked up McDaniel greatly.  Cochran claims not to have any ties to Kelly, but the case is continuing to be investigated.  Also, the nursing home is upping surveillance and is on the lookout for anything suspicious.  They are also looking into any evidence they might be able to get regarding the case.

Cochran made a statement that he was very concerned for his wife’s security and well being but he is sure that there will be no further issues regarding the case. Cochran is 76 and was elected to the Senate in 1978 after six years in the House of Representatives in Washington DC.

Draft Day Serves as Surprise to Manziel and Others

Johnny Manziel, also known as Johnny football because of his amazing football skills he displayed as quarterback in collage, was supposed to be one of the top draft picks in the NFL draft last week in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft.   However, many teams already have experienced quarterbacks starting for them, and they might not want a younger guy to be on their team staring at quarterback.  However, I don’t see any harm in training him for a year or two until he is ready to start and when your starting quarterback retires, you put him in to start.  Surely these other teams needed certain random positions filled in and decided to draft strong players in those positions, because manziel wasn’t drafted until a lot later than he should have been.

Manziel ended up being drafted to the Clevland Browns, not exactly the best team in the NFL, but it would do for Johnny Football.  After being drafted finally, it was discovered that Manziel sent a text to the quarterback coach of the browns telling him to “hurry up and draft” him already.  After seeing this the head quarterback coach of the browns sent a text to the owner and head coach of the Browns, telling him what Manziel had texted him.  The head coach of the Browns took this as a sign that Manziel was ready to go, and really wanted to play for the Cleveland Browns.  He traded up a pick to pick Manziel to play for the Browns.

Shortly after this happened, the owner of the browns made it clear to Manziel that he wouldn’t be starting at quarterback for the Browns in the upcoming 2014 football season in the fall.  However, the head coach of the Browns said otherwise, that Manziel would be competing with the already starting quarterback of the Browns for the starting position at quarterback for the upcoming season.

There were a few other surprises in the draft, such as the Vikings not picking Manziel when they had the chance.  With Manziel, the Vikings could have an unstoppable backfield with former 2013 season NFL MVP Adrian Peterson and then Manziel at quarterback.  But the Vikings decided to chose another quarterback over Manziel.

Another thing that was interesting about the 2014 draft last week was the very first homosexual was drafted into the NFL.  Michael Sam became the very first open homosexual male to ever ender the NFL draft and be drafted.  Shortly after he was drafted, he celebrated by giving his boyfriend a kiss, which was broadcasted to millions on live television.  Many may find something wrong with this but I personally believe that this should be fine.  If men and women can kiss each other on television, gay males and females should be able to as well.

The Draft was full of surprises and the 2014 football season upcoming should be very interesting.

Apple Sets Out For New Iphone 6

What started as one of the very first touch screen phones several years ago, has evolved into something very different.  The Iphone 6 is expected to be released the summer in August.  The new phone will be even thinner and have a larger screen than before, as well as some other different changes to it.  The iPhone 5 was released a little over a year ago, which proved to be a huge success.  Apple, the company which makes Iphones and other devices, has been competing with the android for several years now, but they may have found something that will make the android to step up their game.

Just this last week, Apple made a large purchase that may change everything about Apple devices forever.  Apple bought Beats Audio by Dr. Dre for a tremendous 3.2 billion dollars.  This ginormous purchase makes Dr. Dre the wealthiest hip hop/rap musician in history, the very first to have a net worth of over a billion dollars.  Apple has not stated anything about how they might use beats audio, but I am pretty sure I have a good clue as to what they may use it for.

With the new Iphone coming out in about 3 months and Apple buying Beats Audio, it wouldn’t be that hard to guess that they are most likely planning to use the newly bought Beats Audio on their newest Iphone, or even on the headphones that are produced and sold with the apple products.  If this were the case, many people would very quickly change their phone plans and get the new iphones, leaving some very tough competition for the android.

If all the rumors prove to be true, there are looking to be some massive changes to the new iPhone 6 that will come out this August.  A 5.5 or 5.6 inch screen will included, along with a very new power button that this time, will be placed on the side of the phone, rather than on the top of the phone, like the power button always has been.  Im assuming that they will keep the finger print unlock touch on the new Iphone because it was a major success with the new Iphone 5s that recently came out this winter.  Also, the new Iphone 6 has said to be up to 26% thinner than the previous Iphone 5.  Also there were rumors of a very new IOS software, IOS 8 that may be added as well.  Although Apple has made no official comments yet, many are looking forward for this to be coming out in the near future.

Crazy Hot Air Balloon Accident Scares Thousands

It was Friday morning in Virginia and many were planning to take off in hot air balloons, however, it was too foggy so they were delayed to take flight later.  Once all of the hot air balloons took flight, many people watched in awe as they soared all across the sky that morning.  Later on when people were still watching the hundreds of hot air balloons fly through the sky, many started their descend to land on the ground.  It was then that one of the hot air balloons was caught too much by the wind, and went towards a power line.  The balloon lost control and hit the power line and immediately caught fire.

The innocent bystanders watched in fright as the hot air balloon tried to land but the fame started to spread and tear away at the balloon.  It was then when one of the three men in the balloon either jumped or fell from the balloon, still several feet up in the air as many were watching.  That’s when the crowd went crazy and started to scream even more and more.  After this, the balloon started to go quickly towards the ground as the flame was spreading even more quickly.  Then, the hot air balloon made a crash landing miles away.  No one knew for several hours where exactly the plane landed at but guess were that it was in a nearby park.  Authorites released a statement hours later that they had not found the balloon yet.  They said that they were still looking for the wreckage but would not release the names of the three men who were involved in the crash, which were all presumed to be dead at the time.

The search continued for hours upon hours into the night.  The two bodies that were in the balloon were soon found and were pronounced dead on the scene, however the search is still going for the third and final person that was aboard the hot air balloon when it crashed.  More than 100 k9 units are currently searching for remains of the basket or the balloon itself, along with the missing person who jumped or fell from the basket while in the air.  They have not tured up yet but the way things are looking, it is extremely likely that the final missing person is dead, however everyone is hoping for the best.

Draft Day

NFL Draft Day, one of the most exciting, yet heartbreaking, days of the year for many college football superstars.  Tonight, May 9^th, 2014, the annual NFL Draft will be held, broadcasted live on television.  This is more than just which college football player will be on which team.  It’s their future, our future.  History books can and will be changed as some of the best college players are drafted into the NFL tonight.

The draft will consist of 32 players being drafted a round, for each of the 32 NFL teams, and 7 rounds total.  Predictions of who will be drafted are almost impossible.  Draft pics will be made by the teams head coaches, based upon which positions need filled and how much potential each player may have.  Each year, different teams get moved up in position of who gets to make the first picks, based upon who made the first picks the previous year.  Just like every year, there are many great college football stars that will be drafted tonight.  One of this year’s favorites, Johnny Manziel, a quarterback from Texas A&M, who will most likely be one of the first picks of this years draft.

The picks are made based upon how each team did the previous year.  The seattle Seahawks won the Super bowl last year so they will receive the very last draft pick.  The Houston Texans had the worst record last year, and therefore they will have the very first pick this year.  In addition, there are a total of 32 compensatory and additional selections that are given to the lowest seeded teams.  This year, the draft will be very exciting and I can’t wait to see who gets drafted where.

Death Penalty Goes Horribly Wrong

Clayton Lockett was convicted and sentenced to the death after he shot a 19 year old girl, Stephanie Neiman, in 1999 after her and her friend walked home to him stealing things from inside her house.  Neiman was abducted, along with her friend, where they were beaten and held captive.  Lockett shot her with a sawed off shotgun and then watched as his two friends buried her while she was bleeding out alive.

A medical technician had a tough time finding a vein to insert lethal drugs on Lockett Tuesday evening, when Lockett was scheduled to face the death penalty.  Guards were forced to taze Lockett to find a suitable vein to insert the drugs that would kill him.

Lockett had cut his arm early Tuesday where he then went to the prisons hospital but was not required to get any stitches.  This wound was found to be self inflicted by Lockett himself later on.  Guards then watched him outside his cell until 5:20 AM when he was sentenced to the execution chamber.  Once there, Lockett refused to be restrained all throughout the day for several hours.  He also refused his final meal as well as his final statement Tuesday when he was not cooperating with prison guards.  After finally being restrained, Lockett was searched for a vein to be used to place the deadly drugs into.

Finally after a while, the first of 3 drugs issued was released into Locketts groin, which made him soon unconscious.  Soon, several things went wrong, after it was realized that the first drug had not been placed correctly and fully into Locketts groin vein.  His heart began to slow and doctors realized that not enough drugs were given to kill Lockett.  Shortly after,  Lockett suffered a heart attack and was then pronounced dead on the scene.  A separate death penalty that was to be served soon after Locketts was postponed, and will wait months or weeks to be carried out.

Locketts body was sent to have an autopsy to see exactly what went wrong in this incident.  The procedures of the staff are going to be investigated as well to see if any staff member could have avoided the situation from happening.

FSU All-Star QB Possibly Arrested for Stealing

FSU, or also known as Florida State University, home to one if the top 25 football schools in the nation with their leading QB were on fire last year.  Jamies Winston, a returning starting QB for Florida State University caught himself in a bit of a snag just the other night.  Jamies was in Tallahassee, Florida just this last Tuesday and picked up some crab legs from the local grocery store.  Jamies had walked out of the store without paying for the crab legs and was later issued a civil citation.

Jamies Winston was the Heisman trophy winner of the 2013 football season, meaning he was one of the best players in the whole NCAA college football league.  Winston was reported to have walked out of a local convenient store in Tallahassee, Florida without paying for his $32.74 worth of crab legs Tuesday night.  It wasn’t known at the time that the suspect was football Star Jamies Winston, however, after police were called, it was made known that the suspect was indeed Winston.  Winston was contacted by authorities and cooperated, therefore authorities decided not to arrest the subject.  Winston claims to have forgotten to pay for the crab legs, along with some crawfish that he had gone to the store to buy.

Winston was issued a civil citation by authorities at that time, and was not arrested because he cooperated with authorities.  Winston then agreed with the store and authorities at the scene that he would do community service as well as pay for the crab legs that were stolen from the store.  Jamies must do at least 20 hours worth of community service work as a result of the incident.  Later, Jamies released a statement claiming he was incredibly sorry for the incident and that he takes full responsibility for his ignorance.

As well as being an all-star on the football field, Winston also plays baseball for Florida State University, a rarity for most collage athletes.  As a result of the incident occurring Tuesday night, Winston’s baseball coach Mike Martin has suspended Winston from the baseball team but did release a statement saying that he was sure that Winston would comply and take care of his 20 hours of community service here soon.  Although Winston is not near the baseball star as he is on the football field, this was still a bummer for Winston.

In the end, all that matters is that Winston apologized and admitted that it was a mistake that he stole the crab legs and took full resposibilty for his actions.  People were even starting to joke about the matter just soon after hearing about the incident late Tuesday.  Thankfully Winston complied with the store and authorities and wasn’t to crabby.

Snapchat Adds Real Time Feature

From an app that was originally made for taking pictures and adding a caption or drawing on it in color to something that is completely new now.  Snapchat has recently added a new feature in which you can actually send texts to one another and video chat in real time with one another.  Now in order to keep chatting in real time with someone via video, you have to hold down on the screen just like you were opening and viewing a Snapchat.  This update was just released over last night and the majority of snapchatters have not downloaded the feature in the update next, but I and curious to see what some have to say about this new so called real time video and chatting feature.

Many people are fans of the original Snapchat, when it was nearly impossible to screenshot a Snapchat and save it to your photos which could be seen forever.  This goes for people who like to send embarrassing, yet funny, Snapchat to their friends.  The old Snapchat was simple, but now it’s getting extremely complex, which is upsetting.  Just about half a year ago, a new feature was added to Snapchat, that I personally did not like at the beginning, but started to enjoy later.  This new feature was called “my story” and instead of just sending the photo to a few of your friends, you could then add it to your “my story” for all of your friends to see. Many were opposed to having this new feature but soon grew used to it and started to enjoy the simple new feature.

Now, the newest feature has been release: chatting with your friends and video chatting with them in real time.  When I first saw this update, I became disappointed and angry.  I felt like Snapchat is losing its originality and is trying to keep adding cool new feature which actually won’t be used that much, if at all by the average snap chat user.  If you really wanted to chat via text with someone you can just send them a text and if you wanted to video chat with them there’s already face time and Skype and probably many other applications that allow you to do the same thing.  Not to mention this new feature will probably have several glitches and will be hard to use for several snapchatters.

Who knows, maybe this new feature may catch on and everyone will start to like it, as the my story feature first did.  Maybe it will bring disappointment or even several more updates and changes to the app.  Only time will tell; but for now, i’m just going to stick with the original Snapchat.

Owner of Clippers Makes Racist Comments

Donald Sterling, a long time owner of the Los Angeles Clippers NBA basketball team allegedly made racial comments regarding African Americans.  The owner, Sterling, supposedly told a female friend of his to avoid being seen with black people in public.  An audio recording was released to TMZ and the voice was recognized as being Sterling.  Much of the people in the NBA reacted to his negative comments, along with the majority of the players of the NBA, the majority of which who are African American, were disgusted by his comments.

NBA basketball star Lebron James of the Miami Heat released a statement about Sterling shortly after Sterling was identified as supposedly saying his racist comments.  James said that there was “no room for Sterling” on the NBA league.  Magic Johnson, a former star basketball player also made a tweet about Sterling and said he would not attend a Clippers game as long as Sterling stayed the owner.  The NBA soon released a statement that they would look further into this case and the alleged comments made by Sterling.

Later on, a phone call was released from Sterling to one of his former girlfriends that made the racist comments.  Sterling said that he was angry that she had posted a picture on instagram with a black man and that she should not be broadcasting all over social media that she is talking to black people.  He later says in the phone call that she shouldn’t be broadcasting him to the whole world and states that she shouldn’t bring him to any of his basketball games.  He later says that it bothers him that she wants people to know she is affiliating herself with black people.

Sterling has had some past with other racial related conflicts.  In 2009 he had to pay close to 3 million dollars to settle a housing conflict where he supposedly refused to let any blacks or Latinos in an apartment complex.  Also, a clippers manager has also suggested that Sterling has made side comments before regarding African Americans.

Obama came to later make an announcement about Donald Sterling and what he had said over the phone.  Obama said, in a press conference, that Sterlings comments were incredibly racist.  Obama also said that when ignorant people want to make ignorant comments, you don’t have to do anything but just let them talk.

Sterling was also supposed to be receiving a lifetime achievement award soon.  However, Sterling will no longer be receiving this award.

Teenage Girl Killed at School on Prom Day

It was Friday morning at Jonathan Law High School in Milford Connecticut, and all was well.  Students were excited for the weekend, and most importantly for the night, prom. It was around 7:15 when an unknown boy approached Maren Sanchez, only 16 years old.  Few witnesses say that the unidentified male classmate asked her to prom, which was just 12 hours away.  Maren declined his offer and then witnesses say he pulled out a knife and stabbed Maren Sanchez in the hallways of the high school, just around 7:15 am.

A true tragedy, affecting all students at the school.  Maren was a member of the schools honor society and was well known around her school for being extremely kind to others.  The news of her death wasn’t released until later on that night, only a few hours until prom was scheduled to begin.  The school ended up postponing the prom until a later date, but that didn’t stop their students from anything.  The classmates and friends of Maren all dressed up and honored Maren as they released purple balloons, her favorite color, into the sky later that night.  They also held up Marens prom dress as they remembered her last night.

Students of Jonathan Law High School also painted a huge rock that was outside the school.  The rock was painted pink and “RIP Maren” as well as her birthday, August 26, 1997, was written on the rick in Marens honor and remembrance Friday afternoon.

Some motives have come up as to why the unidentified male may have stabbed Maren, but the most likely is that she rejected his offer to prom for later that night.  Maren was thought to have a new boyfriend at the time, hence the reason why she had to decline the unidentified males request for prom.  The males name will not be released to the public for a while because he is not 18 and legally an adult yet.  However, the subject in custody is 17, and may be tried as an adult which means he could face up to life in prison if he is convicted.  Investigations are still talking to students and faculty members to try and turn up any other motives or reasons why this tragedy may have occurred.  But there is one thing that was promised, justice will be served.

Problems With the Pine Tar

There are some things that you just cannot get away with, and having illegal pine tar on your neck for everyone in the world to see during a baseball game is definitely one of them.  Michael Pineda, a pitcher for the New York Yankees, had recently gotten into trouble just less than two weeks ago for using pine tar to enhance his pitching against the Boston Red Sox.  Just last night, he was busted for the same exact thing, using pine tar to help him pitch better, but this time Pineda placed the tar on his neck for almost anyone to see.  Not to mention that they were playing the exact same opponent as they were less than 2 weeks ago, when Pineda was ejected from that game!

As the Dailey News put it “You don’t drive 100 mph past a police station. You don’t brag to an IRS auditor about your undeclared income, and if you are a big-league pitcher who has already been caught with pine tar on your person, you don’t show up 13 days later against the same opponent, and come out with a gob of the stuff smeared on the right side of your neck”.  I’m starting to question the stupidity of some people.  I mean yeah if you really want to get away with something be super sneaky about it, and if you are caught, don’t do it again or if you really have to, be even sneakier.  What you should not do is after you are caught for something, do not make it even more obvious the next time and expect to get away, it is complete nonsense!

Many pitchers do use illegal pitching substances in the MLB such as the pine tar used by Pineda in the Yankees game against the Red sox just the other night.  Unlike Pineda, these pitches are extremely quiet about it, and do not use it just a few games after being caught using it.  Many MLB pitchers confessed to using theses illegal substances to enhance their pitching, usually in cold weather.
Just when you thought it was almost impossible to get even stupider, you were wrong.  It was even possible that Pineda had a rag used to wipe pine tar hanging out of his back pocket while he was pitching.  One reported even joked that he had the discretion of a Kardashian.  Just hopefully when he returns he does not get in trouble yet again!

High School Senior Asks Miss America to Prom

Nina Davulurni, or also known as miss America, was at a Pennsylvania high school just this last week and was doing a question and answer at the school, like she usually has been doing around the US.  It was then that a senior boy walked up to her with a flower and asked her to go to prom with him.  Nina was very thankful that the boy asked her, however there were several others that were not at all amused.  The school administration was furious that the boy would do such a thing and after he did, they gave him a three day suspension from school for his actions.  Now after all of this has happened, miss America is speaking out at the school to try and get them to revoke the suspension because the student did nothing wrong.

Patrick Farve, a student at a high school in Pennsylvania, was thinking about who to ask to prom, with the dance right around the corner.  When he first hear the miss America, Nina davulurni, was coming to his school to do a question and answer, he started to think about asking miss America herself to prom.  Well soon enough, with the encouragement from his peers, this became a reality.  While Nina was giving her speech at the school just this past week, Patrick walked up to her and handed her a flower and asked her to prom.  Nina was flattered when she was asked but ended up turning him down later on because she could not fit In the dance with her busy travel schedule. 

The administration was furious that Patrick had done this and thought that he had misrepresented his school and set a bad example for the other students at the school.  Patrick was called into the principal’s office and was suspended for 3 days for his actions.  Just a few days later, Nina was informed about what happened to the boy and she contacted the school immediately.  She begged the school not to suspend the boy and said that she didn’t mind him asking her to prom at all and that she actually liked that Patrick took the time to ask her.  But the schools administration wouldn’t budge and still fell through with the 3 day suspension that Patrick was given.

Patrick says he does understand why the school suspended him and that it probably wasn’t the best idea to make a scene in front of the whole school.

Pot Parties in Colorado for “420”

For those of you who don’t know, 420 is the number designated to cannabis, or marijuana.  Its origin comes from a police code “420”, which codes for someone currently using the drug.  Well 420 eventually caught on, and now the users of the drug celebrate on 4/20 or April 20^th of every year.  Although it is illegal in the majority of the states across the nation, that doesn’t stop users from using it, even in public rallies.  It has been know for users to gather on 420 in past years in areas such as parks.  Now that the use of marijuana is legal for recreational use in Colorado, the celebration has expanded even more than previous years, when it was illegal; and this year 420 just happens to fall on Easter Sunday.

Imagine just strolling out from church with your family shortly before noon on a nice warm Easter Sunday, and then you smell marijuana in the air.  That’s what it was like for several people in Colorado this year.  Although it is illegal to publicly use marijuana, people still do it in Colorado, just like they had publically use it while it was illegal in the state, just a year ago.  Many people are becoming angry with this and are urging police to take action.  However, it is in the polices best interest to stay away to not start any kinds of problems that may erupt because of the police disrupting the 420 rallies.

If we were to go back a year from this date, when all marijuana was illegal, for medical as well as recreational, would you have thought we would be sitting here today, able to easily walk down the road and go pick some marijuana up with no questions asked, completely legal?  Now this is just the case in Colorado, but now what will it be like a year from now? Two years? The possibilities are endless.  We could see states all across the nation start to legalize the drug, which wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing, it just depends on how you look at things.  And of course there will be stipulations on the drug, as there is for alcohol, but you never really know what the next year brings.  Your state might even be the very next to legalize the drug for recreational or medical purposes.

Locavores or Loco-Vores?

A locavore is someone who pledges to only consume foods what was produced within a 100 mile radius of them.  While this movement has not been around for a very long time, it is starting to get some attention in the past few years around the nation.  Locavores believe that by eating within an 100 mile radius, they are helping solve air pollution, global warming, as well as doing a great amount of good towards their local economy, however, I believe otherwise.

According to James E. McWilliams and his article about locavores, there is a lot or errors that they are not accounting for.  Major issues that locavores claim they are solving is global warming, as well as the issue of air pollution, are being solved.  While locavores believe that by buying locally, they are lessening the air pollution which leads to global warming, however, they do not account for the miles that the locally grown foods are traveling.  Take for instance a truck and an airplane, the truck can only transport little goods over a small amount of distance, while an airplane can take a large amount goods over a large amount of distance.  There was even a study done for this funded by the New Zealand government that found if you account for the amount of goods per miles, the carbon footprint left is virtually the same.

Like I mentioned before, locavores main reason for eating locally is to lessen the air pollution of foods transported across the world.  According to a graph analyzing the climate impact of certain foods used in conservation magazine, showed that the transportation of foods is not a problem at all when looking at the greenhouse gas emissions let off.  In fact, the transportation only accounts for roughly 10% of emissions from food consumption.

One last reason why locavores choose to eat locally is to help their local economy prosper.  Wouldn’t going to your local grocery store or farmers market be helping your local economy?  Also, what do locavores do in the winter months, which are brutal almost all across America?  Just saving up some foods for 4-5 months doesn’t sound very appetizing, and your food would not be nearly as fresh as going to your local market or convenient store instead.

Bus Crash in California Leaves Several Dead

A charter bus with 48 people on board, 44 of which who were high school students, was involved in a fatal accident in California on Friday afternoon.  A FedEx merged into the other lane with oncoming traffic on interstate 5 in California when it collided with a charter bus with going down the opposite way.  Upon collision, there was a huge flame as the two vehicles collided. In total, there were 1o people killed in the accident, and investigators are still trying to figure out exactly what went wrong for the FedEx driver.

We have seen it in several tragic cases before, someone falling asleep at the wheel and merging into the oncoming lane or traffic and hitting another vehicle, but never are two large vehicles involved in the same crash.  There are other possibilities that may arise as causes of the accident, but the driver falling asleep is the most realistic right now because there was no attempt for the FedEx driver to avoid the collision, according to several spectators.  The spectators said that they saw the FedEx vehicle cross the grassy median and into the other fast lane of traffic.  However, one spectator said she thought she saw flames coming from under the FedEx truck before it crossed over the median, while the other spectator said they did not see any flames.  However, the bus driver was extremely alert because there was about 150 feet of break marks on the interstate from the bus driver trying to stop and avoid the crash before in happened.

Investigators will continue to look into the stage case, closely inspecting any little detail that they think will help them come to a conclusion as to what left 10 people dead in the accident Friday afternoon.  The death toll includes the two still unidentified drivers, 5 students, and 3 adult chaperones that were on the trip as well.

Selfies: The New Thing

I’m sure many of you have heard of a selfie before, and were confused of the meaning, as I was when I first heard of the term.  The selfie was first used as a slang term for over a year, used to describe a person taking a photo of themselves, but the selfie didn’t stop there.  Celebrities started taking them, the “selfie Olympics” was made, and they were used on social media sites such as instagram, Facebook, and twitter.  The selfie would become so widely used and such a know term that it would be added to the dictionary.

One could argue that the selfie has been around as long as the camera has been around, but with the expansion of technology, the amount of Selfies taken has dramatically increased.  From Facebook to instagram, the selfie is used virtually everywhere online and around the world.  There was even an app created that uses mainly selfies, called snapchat.  Snapchat is an application on the I phone or android that allows you to take a picture of anything and write a caption, then send it to any of your friends.

Selfies have also been taken by famous people, important political figures, and star athletes.  Selfies have been taken by the president, basketball star Lebron James, and even the president of the Untied States.  Selfies were taken so much that another level of the selfie was soon created.

The selfie Olympics was soon created on social media, mainly twitter.  The selfie Olympics wasn’t actually an Olympics but was just a friendly competition of who could take the best selfie using several props and a specific theme in front of the bathroom mirror.  The selfie Olympics has been taken to several extremes where people, usually teenagers, would go all out to take their selfie for the selfie Olympics to get it featured on twitter for everyone to see.

And after millions of Selfies were taken all around the world, it was finally time to make it a real word.  The term “selfie” was added to dictionaries all over, defined as “  A photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a Smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website”.  The selfie would eventually go on to become the 2013 word of the year, and is still continued to be used today.

School Stabbing in Pennsylvania

What seemed like the safest place on earth is now turning into a place where people’s lives are now starting to be in danger.  School shooting and stabbings are starting to happen even more and more in today’s world, with students being able to access weapons much easier than before.  Yet another school, just yesterday in Pennsylvania, a student brought two kitchen knives to school and stabbed a total of 21 students on a rampage.  The question keeps being asked ‘what can we do to stop this from happening?’ and the answer may be frightening.  Is there anything that can truly be done to stop this from happening, or even limit them?  Perhaps several precautions can be made to help stop school shooters and stabbers, but they can never exactly be stopped.

Just a normal 16 year old boy, on a normal Wednesday morning at Franklin Regional Senior High School in Pennsylvania, right outside of Pittsburg.  The hallways were crowded, as usual, and everyone was going about their daily routine.  It was then that people started noticing a kid walking around stabbing whoever was in his way.  The kid had stabbed 20 people, along with a security worker at the school, before the assistant principal tackled the student to the ground.  It was in the middle of the stabbing when a `student noticed what was going on, and pulled the fire alarm to make sure all students evacuated the building as soon as possible.  Many students said they didn’t know what was going on but there were students rushing out of the school from everywhere and there were a few that came out several minutes later bleeding.  It was then that teaches asked a few students to take off their sweatshirts and used them to stop the blood flow.  There are currently five students who are considered to be in critical condition, but are expected to live.

How can there occurrences be prevented many ask?  There are several precautions that can be taken at schools, however they may be blowing things way out of proportion.  We want kids to feel safe at school, not like they’re in some sort of prison.  Some things schools could do to help stop there tragedies from happening is arming the teachers with Tasers incase of an emergency or hiring a full time on duty police officer to be at school at all times.  These things are going to keep happening and there needs to be ways to prevent them from happening sooner rather than later.

Wildcats and Huskies Shock the Nation

Despite all odds the Kentucky Wildcats and the Connecticut Huskies have made it to the NCAA March Madness Championship.  Both teams, starting out with almost no odds of making the championship game, have shocked the nation on their games played last night, Saturday April 5^th.  They have truly shown that no matter what other people think, if you put your mind to something you can do it, despite the odds.

The University of Connecticut Huskies have had a difficult schedule to make it to where they are now, and had to take down several of the top teams in the nation.  Going into the tournament, they received a 7 seed in their division of just 16 teams. Many people thought that the Huskies were going to be taken down in an upset against St. Josephs the very first round of play, and they almost were too.  They made it to the second round and faced 2^nd ranked Villanova, and were expected to lose that game as well, but they powered through and played strong until the end, in a huge upset.  Next, the Huskies took on the 3^rd ranked Iowa State Cyclones in a well played game where they came out on top once again.  Next was the Elite Eight where they took on the Michigan State Spartans, who were ranked 4^th but were contenders to win the tournament; and yet again the Huskies shocked the nation.  Last night was the final four game where they played number one ranked Florida, a difficult game.  The Huskies came out strong and pulled away at the end in a victory and ticket to the Championship game on Monday Night.

On the other side of the bracket, the Kentucky Wildcats made their way to the championship game as well.  They also had a difficult schedule, taking on undefeated Wichita State and winning.  Then beating 4^th ranked Louisville in the next round.  Kentucky went on to play 2^nd ranked Michigan state where they won in the elite eight, and last night took on 2^nd ranked Wisconsin Badgers where they came out with a last minute one point victory to win it and proceed to face Connecticut in the championship.

Now, in just what may be two of the highest ranked seeds to play each other in NCAA March Madness Championship history, the 7^th ranked Connecticut Huskies will take on 8 ranked Kentucky Wildcats in the championship game held tomorrow night.

Detroit Boys Attack Man

Today in Detroit, a boy was riding his bike down a residential road when a man did not see the boy, and accidently hit the young boy.  Instantly, the man had known what he had done and immediately stopped his vehicle.  The man quickly went out of his truck to check on the boy that he had just hit, making sure they boy was not in and critical condition.  It was then, that a group of about six people came up to the man and stated beating him for almost no apparent reason at all.

What was just a complete accident, turned into an all out attacking on a man driving a pickup truck who had hit a younger boy while riding his bike.  Like any normal person would do, the man rushed to the boy to make sure that he was okay and not severely injured.  It was at that very moment when police say that an angry “mob” of about six people attacked the man and started severely beating the man.  There was no reason for these people to attack the man, and police has said that the public is extremely outraged because of the attacking.  Police have already investigated the scene and are trying to get to the bottom of the case; however this will be hard because there really was no potential motive for the attacking to occur.  Possibly the boy was a family member or a neighbor of the people who attacked the man, and they were angry.

The man is currently in the hospital and is in critical condition due to the attack.  Police have been thoroughly investigating the case and have recently found two teenage boys who they believe are prime suspects in the attacking against the man.  A 16 and 17 year old boy are currently in custody and questioning with the police, who are trying to find out more about the attack and their motives.

The boy that was hit is not in critical condition and doctors say the boy will be fine,  it is just the man that people should be worrying about.

The Final Four

What seemed to have started just days ago, the NCAA March Madness tournament if down to just four teams from each region.  Florida, without any doubts, makes it to the final four from the Southern region.  Connecticut surprised many by beating Iowa state in the sweet 16 and then going on to beat Michigan state, who was a prospect to make it into the final four or further.  Connecticut, the winner of the Eastern region of the tournament, will take on Florida in a tough match up to proceed to the championship.  Wisconsin, without any surprises, was the winner of the Western region, and makes it into the final four.  Lastly, Kentucky, the winner of the tournament two years ago, makes it to the final four after a long and tough journey, beating number one ranked and undefeated Wichita state, then beating number four ranked Louisville in the sweet 16, and the number two ranked Michigan in the elite eight.  Kentucky will face Wisconsin in a close match up on Saturday night.

Now that I have established that Florida, Connecticut, Wisconsin, and Kentucky will advance to the final four, the only question that remains is, who will win each of the three games remaining?  Let’s start with the first game that will be played Saturday night, Connecticut and Florida.  Now Connecticut is a seven seed coming into the tournament, and despite all odds, has made it to the final four to face Florida, who has had an easier pathway of getting to the final four.  The line of the game has Florida winning by 6.5, but I think it will be a way closer game than that.  Connecticut has beaten several great teams to make it to the final four and if they preform to the best of their ability, I believe that they can beat Florida in their game on Saturday.  Now this game can be anyone’s game, and we have found that out earlier on in the tournament.  If both teams go out and give everything they have, the score will be very close going into the final few minutes of the game.  Despite the odds that have been given, I believe that Uconn will outplay Florida in the last minutes of the game and will advance to the championship.

Now that leaves Wisconsin and Kentucky, who will play in the second game on Saturday night, in a battle to make the championship.  Both teams are extremely talented and have the potential to not only win this game in the final four, but win the whole championship.  The game’s outcome will come to whoever simply outplays the other.  I think that this game will be a close one into the last minute where Wisconsin will start to pull away.

Lastly there is the championship game, which any team has the potential to make, but I have chosen Connecticut and Wisconsin to proceed to the championship.  I think that this game may not be the closest game that we have seen in the tournament, as several teams have only won by one or two points. I believe that Wisconsin will come out with a lot of fire, as they have done all year, and defeat Connecticut in the championship game next Monday night.

JFK Assassination Theory

For years people have believed in what seemed to be fictional ideas, but recently many of these beliefs, seem to be a reality.  Conspiracy theories have been around for a long time, when events happen, or appear to be happening; people create beliefs about these certain event. Popular conspiracies that are around in the modern day consist of Area 51, the 9/11 attacks, and that the moon landings were faked by NASA.  All of these have been around for several years, but I’m here to talk about one that has been around for over 50 years, the JFK assassination. Many believe that Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK twice on November 22^nd, 1963, but there are some that believe that it was set up buy a much higher power, the government of our very own country.  What is new about this specific theory is that the US government announced that they will be releasing more information about the assassination in 2030.  Now perhaps this is just a myth, the facts add up to Oswald committing the crime, but perhaps there is more that meets the eye.

President John F. Kennedy was shot on November 22^nd, 1963, once in the head, and once in the neck while riding in a limo in Dallas, Texas.  The Supreme Court ruled that Lee Harvey Oswald committed the crime, and that no one else was involved in the assassination.  But in a recent poll taken, less than a third of America’s population believes that Oswald actually committed the crime.

Now what exactly happened, people are still unsure of.  Was Oswald not alone?  Do the trajectory of the bullets match up to Kennedy being shot from the 6^th floor of a building, or much lower?   Perhaps was it even set up by mobsters or even the United States own Secret Services?  There are many theories that exist, all being extremely rational, and possibly even the truth of what happened.

The most prominent of the theories states that the assassination was set up by the CIA.  Many refute this idea, thinking that there is no way that the CIA would kill their own president, but the facts do add up.  The CIA had a motive to assassinate JFK for a few reasons, first, CIA agents were scared that JFK would discharge them because of his beliefs, and secondly because of a call for change in the CIA after a failed mission just months prior.  The CIA would even have the ability to set up such an act.  Many may think they wanted it to look like an accident, but the chances of the president dying that way would raise too many suspicions.

These suspicions of the American people will never truly go away for a while, and more and more will continue to be looked into.  The government has said one thing about the accident in the past few years, saying they will release more information about the assassination in 2030, which most likely means that his immediate family will all be dead by.

Barack Obamas March Madness Bracket

            Well it is finally that time of year that everyone is always going crazy about, March Madness.  A total of 64 teams battle it out in in 6 rounds of highly intense games of basketball for a chance to be national champions in the largest tournament of the year.  Millions of Americans make their selections before the tournament starts, selecting teams to win each round until and national champion is chosen.  Like previous years, president Obama has made his March Madness bracket selections and choose Michigan State, a number four seed, to win the tournament.  Brackets do take a lot of time, organization, and thought to do, which doesn’t seem like the president of the United States should have time to do.

            This year is the 76^th consecutive March Madness tournament, and there is just as much madness as ever.  The very first game, that has already been played, already resulted in a large, somewhat unpredicted upset.  Number 11 seeded Dayton University beat number 6 seeded Ohio State University by one point in the last seconds of play.  Obama had picked Ohio State University to win that basketball game and even had them winning in the next round, advancing into the sweet 16.  The games are just getting started and more madness is to come.

            Upon looking at Obamas March Madness bracket, I realized a few funny things.  I have almost the same exact teams advancing into the elite eight as the president.  With the exception of number 2 seeded Wisconsin proceeding into the final four, as I have Creighton winning, our brackets look a lot alike.  Florida and Kansas from the south, Michigan state and Villanova from the East, Louisville and Duke in the Midwest, and finally Arizona and Creighton/Wisconsin in the West.

            Another thing that struck me in analyzing President Obamas’ bracket is how he would have time to fill out the bracket.  Wouldn’t you think that the president would have more important things to do than take this time to fill out a bracket and then go live talking about his bracket?  But I guess he can make time for it.  With several things that are pushed the presidents way every day, many would believe that he doesn’t have time for activities such as these.  I guess that it is the president’s decision whether or not he does this and they know their priorities.

The Problems with Fast Foods

In today’s world with everyone constantly on the go, and meal times creeping up on you before you know it, people look for the easiest, tastiest, and fastest way to satisfy their hunger.  The easiest thing for anyone to get on the go is fast food, and therefore, unfortunately, this is what most people resort to.  There is not any place that will sell you something somewhat healthy through the drive through if you are on the go, and that’s the problem with society.  Cost also factors in; it is easier to buy a few items off the dollar menu than to go into the supermarket and pick out some healthy foods that will add up to be two, three, or four times what you will pay at a drive through.

            From Wendy’s to McDonalds, Burger King, and KFC, Americans are obsessed with fast foods.  So many factors lead Americans overeating these fast foods day in and day out.  The first is its accessibility; it is faster to grab fast food from the drive through than it is to do anything else.  What would take about half an hour or even more to prepare at home, you can pick up on the fly in just a few minutes.  With everyone busy working or a time crunch, this is what most Americans resort to.

            Another factor that leads to Americans overeating fast foods is the cost.  The fast food industry is constantly looking for ways to decrease the cost of production and increase their profit.  No matter where you choose to eat at, they are always going to have a meal that will get you buy for about $5, which is great for Americans.  Anyone would rather pay that $5 it takes to buy fast food than the $15+ that is would take to eat a decent meal at their homes.  There are also people who simply can’t afford to pay the high prices for healthy foods that grocery stores are demanding, who must then resort to fast foods.

            Another reason why Americans choose fast foods over healthy foods is because they are simply tastier.  Sure there are healthy foods that taste good, but when you can order a large fry or a large tasty burger somewhere that is right around the corner, this is when Americans overdo things.  All of these fasters, as well as fast foods becoming easier to access as these restaurants are rapidly expanding nation and worldwide, are leading to obesity.  There are several ways in which we could put a stop to this, but it is a lot easier said than done.
